New Delhi | 29 July 2026 : In a significant move towards strengthening the safety and legal protection of healthcare professionals, MedscapeIndia, led by Chairperson Dr Sunita Dube, in collaboration with the Indian Medical Parliamentarians’ Forum (IMPF), convened a landmark Policy Dialogue and Roundtable Discussion on the Safety of Healthcare Professionals at IICC New Delhi, on 22nd July 2026. The initiative is part of a nationwide movement led by the healthcare fraternity advocating stronger safeguards for doctors, nurses and allied healthcare professionals.
The historic consultation brought together Hon’ble Members of Parliament, senior healthcare leaders, national medical associations, nursing organisations, allied healthcare bodies and policy experts on a common platform to deliberate on comprehensive policy measures to create a safer, and patient-centric healthcare ecosystem.
Appreciation for Dr Sunita Dube’s Leadership, The forum acknowledged the leadership of Dr Sunita Dube, Founder Chairperson of MedscapeIndia–AMET, for consistently bringing together healthcare organisations, policymakers, parliamentarians and civil society to build consensus on healthcare safety.
A Four-Year National Movement Reaches a Defining Milestone
For more than four years, MedscapeIndia–AMET has been leading a nationwide Red Flag movement advocating comprehensive legal protection for healthcare professionals, including a dedicated legal framework for the Prevention of Assault on Healthcare Professionals and the establishment of a Healthcare-Specific Tribunal for the timely adjudication of violence-related cases.
Building on this sustained advocacy, Dr Sunita Dube, Chairperson, MedscapeIndia–AMET, initiated the Member of Parliament Forum for Safety of Healthcare Professionals in 2025 along with MP and the formation of Doctors’ Forum for Safety of Healthcare Professionals. Since 2023, the issue has been raised more than 21 times in the Parliament of India, supported by 79+ MP reflecting growing national recognition of the urgent need for stronger legal safeguards.
Today, the initiative has united 61 national medical, nursing and allied healthcare organisations along with over 8,200 healthcare institutions across India, creating one of the country’s largest collaborative movements for healthcare safety.
Strong Parliamentary Support
Hon’ble Members of Parliament unanimously expressed solidarity with doctors, nurses and all healthcare professionals while appreciating MedscapeIndia–AMET’s constructive role in building dialogue between policymakers and the medical fraternity.
Dr. Anil Bonde, Hon’ble Member of Parliament and Chairman of the Indian Medical Parliamentarians’ Forum (IMPF), reaffirmed the Forum’s commitment to continued consultations and coordinated efforts to strengthen legal and institutional mechanisms protecting healthcare professionals.

Red Flag Campaign Receives Unanimous Parliamentary Support
The Red Flag Campaign for the Prevention of Assault on Healthcare Professionals, spearheaded by MedscapeIndia–AMET, received wholehearted support from the participating Members of Parliament.
The campaign focuses on:
- Prevention of violence in healthcare settings
- Peaceful conflict resolution
- Public awareness and trust-building
- Strengthening institutional mechanisms for healthcare safety
Members appreciated the campaign’s positive, preventive and collaborative approach towards addressing violence against healthcare professionals.
Dr. Mohsin Wali also recommended expediting the policy process to ensure timely implementation of protective measures.
White Paper on Healthcare Safety Appreciated
During the policy dialogue, the White Paper on the Safety of Healthcare Professionals, prepared under the leadership of MedscapeIndia–AMET, was presented before the parliamentary forum and received widespread appreciation.

Bharat Lifesaver Mission Receives Parliamentary Endorsement
In another significant development, participating Members of Parliament extended their support to the Bharat Lifesaver Mission – National CPR Awareness & Training Initiative.
Several MPs accepted the role of CPR Ambassadors, committing to promote CPR awareness and life-saving training in their respective constituencies.
The forum also recognised MedscapeIndia’s contribution in training over 2.5 million citizens in CPR and Basic Life Support through its nationwide Train-the-Trainer initiative.
Celebrating Twelve Years of the FitIndia Movement
The meeting also commemorated 12 years of MedscapeIndia’s FitIndia Movement, completed on 1 July 2026 (Doctors’ Day).
Participants appreciated the organisation’s long-standing contribution towards:

- Public health awareness
- CPR and life-support training
- Patient safety
- Community health mobilisation
Roadmap for Future Action
The roundtable outlined a comprehensive roadmap that includes:
- Continued parliamentary consultations on healthcare safety legislation.
- Greater coordination among medical, nursing and allied healthcare organisations.
- Nationwide public awareness campaigns promoting respect for healthcare professionals.
- Strengthening institutional mechanisms for preventing violence.
- Dialogue-driven solutions to improve trust between healthcare providers and patients.

Several MPs who could not attend the meeting conveyed their solidarity with the movement through written communications.
Collective Message of National Solidarity
The meeting concluded with a collective resolve to build a healthcare ecosystem where healthcare professionals can serve with dignity, safety and confidence, while citizens continue to receive compassionate, high-quality and trust-based healthcare.
The unprecedented collaboration between Parliament and the healthcare fraternity was widely recognised as a defining milestone in India’s ongoing efforts to establish a safer, legally protected and more respectful environment for healthcare professionals.
After 4-5 years of sustained advocacy and policy engagement by MedscapeIndia, Members of Parliament have called for a comprehensive national law to protect doctors and healthcare professionals on duty.
